What We Do

We help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe after school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy.

We build Montor/Mentee relationships. A good mentor is willing to take the time to get to know their mentee, to learn new things that are important to the young person, and even to be changed by their relationship

What's Your Vision?

Our mission is to EMBRACE you wherever you are in your life right now, MENTOR you as a person and help DEVELOP your "vision" into a more prosperous one.

Our goal is to empower you with the tools and resources that will help you reach your full potential in life and inspire others to do the same.

Starving Minds Mentoring

As a part of our 6-week mentoring program we will be putting together a vision board that compiles of all the things we would like to see happen in our lives. Everyone sees things differently and your vision may not be the same as the person next to you. But the important thing is that each of us has something to look towards to in life.

What is a vision board?

A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a ...
specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display
images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.

This is a simple project that is done individually, but can be encouraged by others in a group.

Materials being used will be: white paperboard, magazines, newspapers, markers, glue

Objective: Find pictures or words in a magazine/newspaper that you can use to describe a vision that you have for your future life. Cut them out and post on whiteboard. You can also write under these images or words to further describe them. But the idea is to write a brief summary (a few words) just to remind you of your vision.
Rule #1

Use your imagination!!! Your creativity is what makes you different from everyone in the world. Embrace the gifts and talents that God has placed inside of you. A picture can be worth a thousand words, so find an image (or words) that you can use to tell us where your vision is headed towards in your life.

Rule #2

Respect everyone else’s project!!! Again, everyone sees things differently, but we must ALL learn to show respect to someone else’s vision for it is what they believe will happen in their lives. The old saying goes “If you want respect, then you have to earn it” so be courteous of what others are doing, and you never know it may actually inspire your vision!

Rule #3

Your vision should be something that you are passionate about!!! Don’t limit your expectations, but use this project as a future guide to goals that you would like to accomplish in your life.

At the end of our 6-week mentoring program we will display our vision boards and have each individual present them to family and friends. So HAVE FUN but work hard and really use your imagination to complete this assignment!!!

We enjoy spending time with the children and getting to know them all collectively. They laughed and play--all as happy as any child could be. We love interacting with them.
Our goal is to reach funds, which will go toward getting supplies for the children, ages 5-16. No donation is too small! Any donation will help and is appreciated.

Donate: If you already have school and office supplies, magazines that you do not need (regardless of the quantity), please send them to us.  We welcome new and gently used supplies of all types. These supplies will be used for each child in the program.
Items such as: folders, copy paper, pencils/pens, makers, etc.. to be used each week, for the next 6 weeks an so on.

This is the first of many more mentoring programs to come. Every 6 to 8 weeks there will be a new program.
